Make It Count!
By Darlene Thorne

“Make every minute count,” that’s the jingle on the news commercial which reminds us to make each one of our minutes count.  That is so in line with the word of God.  The scriptures tell us to redeem the time and to number our days.  We as God’s people need to be ever mindful of each day and what it may bring.  We should always begin the day with prayer, asking God to show us the path we are to travel; making sure that we ask Him to order our steps.

We should be looking for an occasion to speak into the life of someone. He is to lead us.  Then during the course of the day look for opportunities to show the love of Christ to someone.  You may be prompted to travel a different route while going back to your office and you run into a person who needs a word of encouragement.  With God, anything is possible so our eyes must be open, our ears ready to hear and our heart willing to obey. Not only are we to look to the Lord for how He will direct our day, we need to ask Him to speak through us.

Many people hear what we have to say, especially our children.
I remember one day my daughter Kennedy reminded me of a promise I had made to her and up until that point, I had not kept it.  She was beginning to believe that I was not a mother of my word.  Well you know I immediately set into motion to fulfill the promise I made to my daughter.  You see, I understand that if she sees me as a representative of Jesus, I must be as He is; one who keeps their word.

At that moment I needed to make that time count because I could be a stumbling block to Kennedy with regards to her trust in the Lord.  We do tell our children that we mess up and we do apologize, but we must to the best of our ability model Christ before them. That is a vital part of allowing God to lead us.

This is the time of year that people are outside more, enjoying the wonderful weather.  It’s a great time to stroll through the park and take the kids to get some great exercise (you, too!).  There is usually someone out there that needs to hear what God has to say through you.  Take advantage of God’s wonderful creation and seize the moment to spread the love of Jesus.

When we allow Christ to lead, our days and our lives tend to be more productive.  Then at the end of each day we can thank Him for being led in the paths of righteousness.  Be blessed and remember to make every minute count for the Lord!
