What Have You Left Undone?
by Raquel R. Robinson

A great friend gave me this assignment and I am passing it on to you. Before the week ends, make a list of every incomplete assignment. Review your “to do” list for the last year and list every assignment that you started and did not complete.

As you review the list, assess each item and re-write the list in order of importance and priority. After you have prioritized the list, review it again and cross out any item that is no longer relevant, ill-timed or no longer profitable. With this final purging, prioritize each item again and remove anything that you cannot spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially commit to.

I encourage this process for a couple of reasons. The first is that we often set goals and then disconnect from the inspiration and motivation for reaching the goal. As a result we can’t emotionally connect with the goal or the desired outcome. This makes it easier for us to procrastinate, become distracted and discouraged. So, reviewing the list will help clarify goals and examine true motives and intentions for achieving success in that area.

Secondly, I have observed that overachievers tend to over commit, over schedule and under acknowledge. As a result they continue to struggle with the frustration of never reaching their real goals and they fail to acknowledge how much they really achieve each day. In addition, having such a long laundry list of outdated goals can be overwhelming.  So, completing this exercise is a great start to developing a workable and realistic plan of action.

So, as you finalize your list, make sure that each idea is not only a good idea, but a God idea. Set aside any excuses that you have used for not completing the things on your list in the past. Meditate on your list and know that you have the resources, skills and knowledge to get it done!

Lamp for Your Feet

Thank you Lord that in you I have the power to complete the work set before me. Although I have a plan, each day I am open to hear from you knowing that you will give direction, comfort and inspiration.

Light for Your Pathway

…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6 NIV)

Lighting the Way

Make your list. Sort it out. Prepare to handle your business.
